MB Post-Op Knee & Hip Replacement Program
Physiotherapy is now partially covered by Manitoba Health after a total hip or knee replacement.
Who is covered?
- Anyone who has had a total hip or knee replacement on or after January 1st, 2023.
- Fine print: This must be your first Physiotherapy session after surgery to qualify for all six sessions. Any appointment with Physio post-surgery will use one of your sessions, regardless of insurance coverage or paid out-of-pocket. Pre-surgery prehab sessions do not count.
How much coverage?
- Individuals are covered for up to six sessions (assessment and five subsequent) or $540, whichever comes first.
- Fine print: Individuals must use their third-party insurance coverage (if they have any) before the program kicks in. For example, if your Blue Cross covers 80% of the session, we can bill you or MB Health the remaining 20%. BOTH OPTIONS are considered one of six sessions. If you have no insurance or your insurance has been exhausted, MB Health will cover up to $90 per session.

- Fill out the waiver and standard intake form which is emailed after you book.
- A doctor’s prescription is not required.
