Team of Health Professionals


Dynamic Chiropractic and Sports Therapy Center was built to ensure our patient gets the best care. Our health professionals work one on one with patients, taking our time to listen to your concerns, educating you on your injuries and providing the proper advice for your stage of rehabilitation. We incorporate a combination of manual therapies and exercise to help you get back to feeling your best.

A percentage of all proceeds at Dynamic goes to non-for-profit and sporting organizations in the area. We also believe in promoting a healthy lifestyle within our community, including actively leading fitness classes, instructing educational seminars and volunteering at local events.

Dr. Ben Townsend, D.C.

Chiropractor

Dr. Ben graduated from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN. He completed his internships at two very prominent sports chiropractic clinics where he worked on many high school and college athletes as well as professional hockey and NFL players.

Dr. Ben has a special interest in sports chiropractic and muscular injuries and uses many different muscle techniques (myofascial release, Graston Technique, etc.) as well as chiropractic adjustments to help the patient return to full strength as quickly as possible. He has been the trainer for the SRSS football team, Eastman AAA hockey team, as well as currently the Chiropractor for the Steinbach Pistons. He not only see’s the Pistons at the clinic, but also goes into their training room once a week to make sure the players stay aligned and healthy! 

Dr. Ben also takes pride in working with many pregnant women and children, to ensure that both mom and child are healthy and happy!

Dr. Ben has taken seminars across Canada from Vancouver to Guelph on the topic of concussion detection, management, and rehabilitation as well as many online courses. He is a Credentialed ImPACT Consultant as well as a certified Shift Concussion Management Level 2 Provider. He also also certified in acupuncture as well as dry needling!

He is a firm believer in active care and will almost always send the patient home with a custom stretching and exercise program tailored to the patients needs.

Outside of work, he is kept very busy with his 3 boys and wife, often playing or watching sports!

Krissi Peters

Krissi Peters

Athletic Therapist

Krissi Peters is a board certified Athletic Therapist with the Manitoba and Canadian Athletic Therapy Associations. Krissi received her Bachelors of Kinesiology from the University of Manitoba with a specialization in Athletic Therapy in 2010 and has been working in the orthopaedic and sports injury field since that time. Krissi has a special interest in treating not only athletes but individuals of all activity levels. A believer in injury prevention and improving quality of life though activity and education, Krissi strives to have each patient perform to their best no matter what their goals are.

Over Krissi’s career in Athletic Therapy she has pursued many post graduate certifications including Acupuncture, Selective Functional Movement Assessment, Functional Movement Screening, Soft Tissue Release therapy, Upper and Lower Body Mulligan manual therapy, Muscle Energy and has extensive training and interest in running biomechanics through The Running Clinic. Krissi also has a special interest in Vestibular therapy holding several certifications in this field.

Krissi strives to promote an active lifestyle, she is an avid runner and has a passion for soccer. She has trained and lead women’s fitness boot camps and is a certified TRX trainer, developing and leading classes at Dynamic.

Dr. Gary Joura, D.C.

Chiropractor

Dr. Gary is a licensed chiropractor in Manitoba and is a member of the Canadian Chiropractic Association. He received a Bachelor of Science from University of Winnipeg and continued onto chiropractic school at Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN. After graduation in 2019, he came back to Manitoba to serve the province he grew up in.

Along with neck and back conditions, Dr. Gary has a special interest in treatment of the shoulder, hip, knee and jaw. He has completed certifications in multiple muscle techniques such as the Graston technique, acupuncture, myofascial release, cupping and taping. He combines chiropractic adjustments, muscle work and rehabilitation exercises to get patients out of pain, increase range of motion and improve function. Dr. Gary believes in one-on-one care which includes understanding the patient’s condition, developing a treatment plan based on the patient’s needs and collaborating with other health care providers as needed. His goal is to provide chiropractic care to as many people as possible.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Gary enjoys playing badminton, basketball, going to the gym, spending time with his wife, and trying out new local coffee shops and restaurants.

Sheena Vij

Chiropractor

Dr. Sheena is a health and wellness advocate. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Winnipeg and graduated with her Chiropractic doctorate from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, Minnesota in December 2019.

Dr. Sheena loves caring for families through safe, gentle, and effective chiropractic treatments. She has experience working with multiple conditions such as sciatica, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, thoracic outlet syndrome, neck pain and low back pain. Additionally, she has a passion for caring for expecting mothers, through pregnancy and postpartum care.

Dr. Sheena has found great patient results through using a variety of specific techniques including stretching, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, cupping, trigger point therapy and manual and activator adjustments. Her goal is to help patients live a pain-free, well balanced, healthy lifestyle. 

Outside of work, Dr. Sheena enjoys going for long walks, travelling, and spending time with her loved ones.

Alex Normandeau

Dr. Alex Normandeau, D.C.

Chiropractor

Dr. Alex graduated from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN. He completed internships in downtown Minneapolis, Kenora Ontario, and here at Dynamic under the mentorship of Dr. Ben. During his internship he learned to treat and care for people in various professions and with diverse hobbies.

He has a passion for treating a wide range of injuries related to muscles and joints. He has received extensive training with the Motion Palpation Institute, where he completed numerous treatment and assessment courses. This training equipped him with the skills for thorough joint and muscle assessments, allowing him to provide highly specific treatments to his patients.

Dr. Alex’s treatment style is centered around motion palpation principles, chiropractic manual adjusting, muscle release techniques, and exercise rehab. He is trained in gait analysis, extremity adjusting, pediatric and prenatal care, and is SFMA certified. His overall goal for treatment is to ensure people can keep doing the things they love.

Dr. Alex also enjoys working with athletes of various sports and has recently been working with the Eastman AAA hockey team. During his time in Kenora and M.P.I. courses, Alex learned to work with pregnant and postpartum women, ensuring they can maintain optimal movement and remain free of pain.

Dr. Alex employs exercise in conjunction with manual therapy and manipulation to maintain peak performance and a pain-free lifestyle.

In his spare time, Dr. Alex likes to stay active by hiking, golfing, playing hockey, and mountain biking.

Cody Bartel

Cody Bartel

Athletic Therapist

Cody is a Certified Athletic Therapist who holds this designation through the Canadian Athletic Therapy Association (CATA). Cody also received a Bachelor of Kinesiology with specialization in Athletic Therapy in 2021 upon graduation from the University of Winnipeg. During university, Cody interned for two years under Krissi Peters at Dynamic. He has experience working with both AAA hockey and university soccer teams.

Cody enjoys treating a wide range of clients, regardless of age or activity level. His favourite part about working with clients is being with them throughout the entire rehabilitation process and seeing the progress that each person is able to make. Cody’s goal is to get each client back to doing the things they love.

Cody grew up in Blumenort and now resides in Mitchell with his wife Julia and son Brooks. Outside of the clinic, Cody enjoys golfing, fishing and being active. He is a huge baseball fan and played at both the provincial and university level and now spends his summer coaching the AAA Carillon Sultans. He has a special interest in treating baseball specific injuries. Cody is also currently teaching TRX classes at Dynamic.

Rachel Schmidtke

Rachel Schmidtke

Registered Massage Therapist

Rachel Schmidtke is a certified remedial massage therapist with the Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba. She graduated from the Massage Therapy College of Manitoba and specializes in therapeutic massage as well as acute injury treatment and long-term maintenance care. With 11+ years of experience she is able to assess and create a treatment plan while working alongside her clients to achieve optimal results. To further her training, she has taken courses that contribute towards a myofascial certification. Rachel has experience treating patients of all ages, elite Olympic athletes, geriatric patients, cross-fit competitors, marathon runners and expecting mothers.

Anna Madden

Anna Madden

Registered Massage Therapist

Anna is a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) through the Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba. She graduated from The Evolve College of Massage Therapy, a 2200-hour, 2 year course and is trained in Therapeutic Deep Tissue and Relaxation massage. She has been with Dynamic since being a student.

Anna enjoys working with people of all ages and backgrounds and is passionate about helping you attain all your health goals, however great or small. She has a special interest in working with expecting mothers and looks forward to gaining more experience and knowledge on how to accommodate and assess women throughout their pregnancies. Anna is excited about her career as a Massage Therapist and growing her knowledge about musculoskeletal dysfunctions and much more.

Mikayla Plett

Mikayla Plett

Registered Massage Therapist

Mikayla graduated from Wellington College of Remedial Massage Therapy in 2022 and is a registered Massage Therapist with the Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba. Treating TMJ dysfunction (jaw disorders) is something that has been of interest to her since attending College and due to high demand she decided to focus her massage therapy practice to TMJ dysfunction in 2023. Massage therapy for TMJ dysfunction can help with jaw-related headaches, popping/clicking in the jaw, and locking of the jaw joint. She has taken advanced training in assessing and treating TMJ disorders and enjoys helping people find relief from their jaw pain.

Outside of the clinic, Mikayla enjoys swimming, hiking, and spending time with friends and family. She loves collaborating with the team at Dynamic in order to best help her clients.

Maryline Shewchuk

Maryline Shewchuk

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist

Maryline graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation in Physical Therapy in 2011. Since then she has worked in private practice settings treating orthopaedic injuries.

Maryline has a strong passion for lifelong learning and has taken several courses since graduating. Topics include manual therapy for joint mobilization as well as soft tissue release, orthotics, gait reeducation, ACL rehab and advanced exercise rehab. She is also certified in Acupuncture and has experience treating the TMJ, chronic pain and establishing return to work programs.

In 2019 she became certified in pelvic floor physiotherapy and has a special interest in treating women both pre and postnatally as well as with concerns involving pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapse, urinary urgency and incontinence. She is eager to educate the community on how every woman could benefit from pelvic floor physiotherapy whether or not they’ve had children.

Maryline bases her treatment on clinical reasoning which combines her education, current scientific evidence and clinical experience. Her treatment approach includes a large focus on listening to her patients, education, movement or exercise rehabilitation and hands on manual therapy when appropriate. Maryline believes that the power to heal is within each of us and is making it her mission to coach her clients into finding their own path to success in their treatment goals.
